Premier Feed and Pet Mesa Az
Today we'd like to introduce you to Tim Stevenson and Tom McClintock.
Tim Stevenson started his career at Superstition Feed in Apache Junction back in 1987. His good friend and future business partner, Tim Noland mentored Stevenson.
In 1995, Noland and Stevenson decided to open a feed store of their own. They re-opened the Oxbow on Main Street in Payson, AZ and called it Payson Feed.
In October of 1997 Payson Feed burned to the ground, but that didn't stop Noland and Stevenson from rebuilding. The setback only gave them more drive.
Payson Feed was relocated in Payson shortly after. Then, in 1998 Stockton Feed was birthed, followed by Tucson Feed and Ramsey Canyon Feed.
In 2004, this dynamic duo opened the very first Pet Club. By 2010, they had grown the Pet Club to 65 retail store locations in Arizona, Colorado, and Texas.
In 2017, Pet Club suffered a tragic turnover to Natural Pet Partners. The investors obliterated the company, leaving customers frustrated, with no place to call "home" for their shopping needs.
Stevenson and friend Tom McClintock saw huge potential in opening up a new store, offering the quality products, variety, customer service and prices that they knew customers deserved.
Tom McClintock, like Stevenson, started his career at Superstition Feed. He was hired by Carol Noland, and her son Tim Noland in 2000 as a yard employee. McClintock was a single parent striving to build a future for he and his son.
Tim Noland taught McClintok a great deal about life, and the feed and pet industry. McClintock quickly grew a love for the industry, and the relationships he had built with customers and their furry friends.
By 2005, McClintock held the store manager position at Superstition Feed. He held that position through 2013 when he was transferred to Pet Club Power Ranch, a retail store that was significantly larger and had wider range of products.
Between Stevenson and McClintock, they had over 20+ years of experience in the feed and pet industry.
In 2018, Stevenson and McClintock decided to team up. With the help of an investor and some of their best employees from over the years, together, they created their first Premier Feed & Pet in Mesa, AZ.
Premier Feed & Pet is truly a labor of love and a gift back to the community. Stevenson and McClintock can almost always be found in-store, sharing their knowledge and providing their customers with the very best customer service and shopping experience.
In January of 2020, a second Premier Feed & Pet location was opened in Phoenix, AZ.
Premier Feed & Pet has a bright future. "This is only the beginning", states McClintock. The two hope to continue to grow and continue to provide customers with competitive prices, variety, and only the best quality!
Has it been a smooth road?
We have been very fortunate to have not yet faced any challenges with Premier Feed & Pet.
I suppose if we had to name one challenge, it would be that we are not able to serve more areas in Arizona quite yet. But with our delivery option, we can service more people for the time being.
So let's switch gears a bit and go into the Premier Feed & Pet story. Tell us more about the business.
We are making a name for ourselves in the feed and pet industry. We cater to all pets, big and small.
When you walk into a Premier Feed & Pet, you are going to notice that we pride ourselves on a clean, organized, and friendly shopping experience. You'll also quickly learn that we want our customers to shop competitive prices, variety, and only the best quality!!
We carry everything from feed, tack, dog, cat, exotic bird, and small pets. Depending on the season, we also sell live chicks, ducklings, and bunnies.
We're a family-friendly store and we're here to educate.
We also offer delivery options for our customers. Not every feed store offers delivery.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Our industry has already had so many changes over the years. It went from small local, family-owned feed stores, to the big corporate pet stores.
Then after the complete pet craze of the early 2000's we saw more boutique style shops open.
Today, obviously e-commerce plays a huge role in where the business is going. We are currently working on our own e-catalog to be able to offer our customers a "pick-up in store" option to shop online.
Depending on how well this works, we could potentially be able to ship direct to our consumers.
